Data center interconnects

Bring server, top-of-rack and aggregation links into one coherent BOM.

Start with Your Application

Connect architecture, host interfaces and cabling requirements in one technical brief. Define the operational constraints before selecting the individual parts.

Choose the link medium per connection

Short in-rack links, rack-to-rack connections and longer aggregation uplinks have different reach and serviceability requirements. Compare DAC, AOC and pluggable optics with fiber using the actual endpoint specifications.

What to document

  • Switch and NIC models, firmware and speed on each port.
  • Breakout requirements and port mapping.
  • Cable routing, bend radius, connector access and length.
  • FEC configuration and a link acceptance procedure.

High-speed AI or HPC links need platform-specific review. A product-family match alone does not establish interoperability or performance.
